How we use and protect your information
This notice explains what information WhatNext Africa may receive through public enquiries and YTSI, why it may be needed, and what choices you have.
At a glance
- We aim to ask only for information that is reasonably needed.
- School, alumni, partnership and general enquiries are currently handled through our institutional email address.
- YTSI information is available only to the participant and team members who need it to provide or support the service.
- Do not send passwords, bank details, government identification numbers, medical records or other highly sensitive information unless a clearly authorised process specifically asks for it.
- WhatNext Africa and YTSI provide transition support and cannot guarantee admission, employment, income, funding, relocation or other outcomes.
When you contact WhatNext Africa
When you contact us by email, we use the information you provide to understand your enquiry, direct it to the right person, respond and keep reasonable records of the conversation. Please share only what is needed for that purpose.
Privacy or account requests may be sent to whatnextafricahq@gmail.com.
Information used by YTSI
What information YTSI may use
Depending on the parts of YTSI you use, the service may process:
- your name and email address;
- basic information about your present stage and the transition you are making;
- school information you choose from the available directory;
- readiness responses and results;
- goals, priorities and actions in your 90-day plan;
- progress updates and reflections you choose to record;
- support requests you send through the platform;
- technical records needed to keep the service secure and working;
- information submitted when someone tries to activate an invitation.
A phone or WhatsApp number is optional. Providing one does not give permission for unrelated messaging.
Why YTSI uses the information
- create and protect accounts;
- show your saved journey when you return;
- calculate and display readiness results;
- save plans, actions and progress;
- respond to support requests;
- check invitation activations;
- protect the service and investigate serious problems;
- understand, in broad terms, whether important parts of the platform are working and being completed.
YTSI is not used to make admission, employment, relocation, financial or health decisions about participants.
Invitation activation records
When someone tries to activate an invitation, we may record the email address used, the date and time, relevant service information and whether the attempt was successful.
These records help us confirm access, keep the service secure and resolve disputes or support problems. An unsuccessful attempt does not by itself mean that anything improper happened.
Some activation records may need to be kept for security, legal, dispute-resolution or service-integrity reasons.
Who may see YTSI information
You can see your own information through your account. WhatNext team members may see only the information reasonably needed to operate, secure or support the service.
Technology providers may process limited service information where this is necessary to provide account, data-storage or hosting services.
AI and automated decision-making
YTSI does not automatically send your plans, progress updates or support messages to an external AI service. Any optional AI-assisted reflection should remain under your control.
AI should not choose your main pathway, submit a plan for you, judge your character or effort, or predict admission, employment, relocation, financial or health outcomes.
How long information is kept and what you can ask for
Account and journey information is kept for as long as reasonably needed to provide, secure and support the service, preserve your submitted history, investigate problems or meet applicable obligations.
You may ask about access, correction, restriction, objection or deletion of your information. Some records may need to be kept where security, legal or service-integrity reasons require it.
